Ways to Prevent the Common Cold This Winter

With summer almost over and winter fast approaching it is a good time to start looking at how you can avoid the common cold. Avoiding the cold can be difficult because there are so many people that catch it. When you have a cold you can feel extremely tired and not want to do anything. You will know if you have a cold because symptoms include; a sore throat, blocked or a runny nose, sore head, feeling sick and even sometimes difficulty hearing.

If you want to avoid these symptoms then this guide has some advice to share that can help you. Some ways that you can avoid the common cold are:

  • Wrapping up when outside
  • Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands
  • Build your immune system
  • Keep away from people that have the cold

Keep Wrapped up Outside

One way to avoid the cold is to make sure you wear warm clothes when you go outside. Hats, scarves, gloves and padded jackets are just some of the ways that you can keep warm in winter. With many clothing stores online or in shops on the high street there are plenty of fashionable winter accessories to choose from.

Avoiding Germs

 As well as making sure you wrap up when it’s cold you should also avoid touching your face with unwashed hands. If you use public transport when going to work then you should avoid touching your face as this way many germs can spread to you from all the other people that have also used public transport.

Building your Immune System to Avoid Common Cold

 Another way you can avoid the common cold is by building your immune system. If you eat vegetables and take vitamins then you are a lot less likely to catch a cold than what you would be without the help of supplements and healthy food. There are a variety of vitamins that can help you in many ways from giving you better health and building up your immune system.

Avoiding Contact with People who have the Cold

One of the best ways to avoid catching a cold is to stay away from people who have got it. If someone at home has a cold then make sure you don’t touch anything the person has touched without cleaning it. However, it is harder to know who may have a cold in public which is why you should always keep your hands clean.
