The lifestyle you live is comprised of various choices and decisions you make that influence your life in some way, even if it’s in the smallest of ways. And the choices and decisions you make will modify certain habits you have and encourage positive changes in your life to benefit you long-term.
Maybe you have high blood pressure, and in order to keep from being on blood pressure medications, your doctor informed you that you’re going to have to make some lifestyle changes. The thing about lifestyle changes is that it’s not going to happen overnight, and the sooner you come to grips with that, the less likely you are to give up when you falter on making these changes.
Just think about it… it’s a lifestyle change, meaning, you’ve lived your entire life living the way you do so you can’t expect a lifelong way of thinking and behaviors to be changed overnight. Making a lifestyle change for the overall betterment of your life will require practice and creating a routine.
Studies have shown that it takes around 21 days before engaging in a new behavior feels natural, so you should at least give yourself three weeks to get acclimated to whatever lifestyle change you want to make. In fact, Harvard Health states that one of the best ways to jumpstart a healthier lifestyle is to select your goals, identify potential obstacles that could get in the way, and make the commitment to stick to accomplishing your goals.
On your journey to embracing a healthier lifestyle, it’s important that you know that the lifestyle changes you’ll make, regardless of what they are, will fall into three categories:
When setting your goals and planning your approaches to achieve them, the key to success is to start small. By starting small, you’re giving yourself a better opportunity to reach the goals you’ve set for yourself, thus giving you the motivation to start setting bigger goals and accomplishing those.
On your journey to embracing a healthier lifestyle, you’re going to be setting goals to be accomplished… Well, did you know that making up your bed every day is one of the first goals you’ll accomplish that sets the tone for the rest of your day? It may not seem like much but when you wake up and make up your bed, you’re more likely to accomplish other goals you have for the day as well. Plus, it’s just a way to add a little more organization to your life as well.
If weight loss is one of your goals to embrace a healthier lifestyle, then juice cleansing is definitely a start in the right direction. Some people go on juice cleanses for weeks at a time, but remember, the goal is to start small so that incorporating juice cleansing into your overall diet can be a sustainable habit. For the best weight loss results, add a juice cleanse to your diet as a meal replacement at least three days out of the week and then work your way up to more for as much as your body can handle it. This is simply adding more vegetables to your diet.
Getting more active doesn’t necessarily mean joining a gym, it simply means adding more physical activity to your day. That could be going for a walk around your neighborhood after dinner or parking far in the parking lot when going to the store.
Since the emergence of the pandemic, it has forced many people to work from home, which in turn, has made people less active. If you used to take the stairs to work, walk up the stairs a few times in your home or do a lap around your house. The point is to at least maintain the same level of physical activity you used to have or incorporate more, and this is good for you whether you’re trying to lose weight or not… It’s just a good heart health habit to have.
